Astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first human to walk on the moon, was born in Wapakoneta, the seat of Auglaize County, Ohio. The Armstrong Air and Space Museum celebrates Neil and America’s Pioneering role in space exploration with a real spacecraft, space simulators and plenty of interactive exhibits and events. It’s a perfect day-trip for history buffs, Astrophiles, and the kiddos too!

Ohio's Grand Lake Region is an easily accessible weekend escape! Located in Auglaize and Mercer Counties on the west side of Ohio, our region is full of friendly people, interesting places, and fun for everyone. While Grand Lake St. Marys may be the heart of our area, there’s so much more waiting to be explored in the charming small towns that surround it. Each town has its own unique character and plenty of things to see and do. You can get here in just 39 minutes from Lima, a little over an hour from Dayton (1 hr 8 min), or less than two hours from Cincinnati, Columbus, Toledo, and Bowling Green. We’re also right near the Indiana border, making it an easy trip from Fort Wayne (1 hr 14 min) or even Indianapolis (2 hrs 20 min).
